Are we there yet?We haven't quite made it to Iraq yet. I sure have and things have definitely changed for the better here. I came up in advance of the Troop and am learning about my new mission. Not exactly what I expected but I'll make the best of it. I won't go into any more detail regarding the mission until I clarify what I can discuss. I will briefly describe our living conditions instead. Alpha Troop has fallen in on several houses on a lake and the remainder will live in trailers called CHUs (Container Housing Units). The rest of the Squadron has similar housing. It is a significant step up from the last time we were here. Beds instead of cots and real roofs instead of tent canvas. The motto here is "Another day in paradise". The scenery is definitely nice with several palaces surrounding a lake and smaller houses scattered around as well. This camp was formerly a vacation area for Saddam and his family. We have all of the amenities we'll need to stay comfortable. There's a small PX, with the larger one being a bus ride away on Liberty. We have an MWR center, an Internet Cafe with a phone center, a decent DFAC, and a small gym. The rest of the Troop will be here soon and once we settle in, I'll upload pictures from Kuwait and our new home. Regarding an address, I have nothing official yet but will work on that today. Stay tuned for an update. Posted by SFCWyatt Monday, November 17, 2008 (05:43:31)
