Squadron Events Spur Ride 2012
The Spur Ride was conducted at October Drill at Camp Swift, Texas and was a huge success. I was able to get a few pictures and have linked them on my Skydrive. Follow the link below to view them.

Alpha Troop's deployment to Iraq Texas State Medals and Ribbons
I know there are many that deployed with the 124th Cavalry to Iraq that never received their Texas Cavalry Medal and ribbon. NGAT has all Texas medals and ribbons available for sale. Go to the following link and click on the link for the Texas National Guard State Ribbon Order Form. Texas Cavalry Medal sets are $10. Print the form, fill it out, and send it to the address on the form along with a check.

Alpha Troop's deployment to Iraq 49th Armored Division Combat Service Identification Badge
As promised, the 49th Armored Division CSIB has been approved and posted on The Institute of Heraldry website. The design was approved on 26 September 2012. Members of Troop A that deployed in 2004 for OIF 2 are authorized to wear this CSIB on their Army Service Uniform.

Alpha Troop's deployment to Iraq 49th Armored Division CSIB
There are few occasions these days to post news stories on this website but I recently received an email from the Institute of Heraldry (IOH) regarding the approval of the 49th Armored Division patch as a Combat Service Identification Badge for the new Army Service Uniform.

Quote:
1SG Wyatt:

I have coordinated with HQDA, G-1 and we will develop the CSIB for the 49th
Armored Division - this will take about 100-120 days to complete the
drawings and development of the CSIB.

Bonnie Henning
Program Analyst
The Institute of Heraldry

This means that in roughly six months, the 49th AD CSIB should be available from your favorite manufacturer of uniform supplies. A list is generated on the IOH website that shows all approved CSIBs. You'll want to check the site after allowing time for the design process.

Squadron Events Spur Ride 2011 Pictures
The Squadron held their annual Spur ride during Drill Weekend at Camp Bowie, Texas in October. Pictures are up on Google Plus. The album there is much easier to maintain, which is why I chose not to include any pictures on this site. I'll get around to it, but I have to resize the original pictures to get them to fit here.
